Future Blogger

I think Val is going to be an exceptional blogger. She's dedicated to learning how to use a computer. She worked so hard the other night, that she feel asleep on the job.

Baby goes to the hospital

We had a little scare this week when Val accidentally cut herself underneath her eye with her sharp little claws. She was bleeding out of both sides of her nose and her eye was filled with blood. It scared mommy a lot, but I knew she's probably be okay. Mommy and I rushed her to the puppy hospital and the doctor had to sedate her to look at her wound properly. Luckily, she didn't hurt her eye at all, and the doctor said that within 12 hours (once the sedation wore off), she would be good as new. Gosh, are all babies this accident prone? She's always getting stuck, scared, smooshed and stepped on, but she doesn't seem to mind. I'm so glad to be all grown up! Here's a picture of the patient... we had to wrap up her paws so she wouldn't accidentally scatch her eye at night.

Bear Blanket

Mom bought me this soft fuzzy blanket, so that I have something to curl up in and p[aw]nder life on cold winter days (which, incidentally are few and far between here in Texas). At night time, I climb into my bed, and my dad tucks my new blanket up around my chin so that I stay nice and cozy warm until morning, when Valiant abruptly wakes us all up screaming to go out.

Princess Valiant

I realize it's been a while since I blogged, but I have two valid excuses. First, the Thanksgiving holiday weekend has kept my social calendar booked. Second, my little sister has kept every waking moment filled with activity. My mom and dad decided to name her Princess Valiant, because she is fearless. She's not afraid of anything, which is bad news for me. Our friend, Patrick, calls her Baroness Vicious, and it's very fitting. I try to be patient with her (and I have to admit that having her around is entertaining) but my favorite part of the day is when she's taking her naps!

Back in the saddle

Meet my horse.

I woke up feeling bearnificent this morning, so my mom and I took Fancy for a ride in the woods! What a way to start your day; makes the life of a career bear totally do-able!

Teddy bear with me

Due to my very hectic work schedule the past few days, I haven't had a lot of time to relax. On top of my crowded schedule, I haven't been feeling totally up to snuff. My allergies started acting up three days ago, after a romp in the Colorado River, so I had to go get a shot yesterday afternoon. With a little bear therapy (cuddle time with my mom or dad), I'm sure I'll be better in no time.

Who do I want in the White House?

If you have a differing opinion, it's not open for discussion. If you desire to be a more informed citizen, please feel free to see Barney's website.
Scotties Rule!!!

What's your favorite StarPucks drink?

Sadly, we are regulars at StarPucks these days. Can you say way too many vente no-water chai lattes? I think my dad feels superior because he only gets a "grande" pumpkin spice latte.
Note: they all have a lot of sugar, plenty of fat and even more caffeine.

Okay, so we're completely unjustified in having a "StarPucks budget," but let's face it... with a name like that, how can we not fantisize? Obviously the founder of StarPucks loved fairies too. The cool people behind the counter who whip up the candy drinks are called fairistas! What a great job!!! I think I'm a fairista, too, in my own way.

Are you feeling b(l)ogged down by life?

Don't be afraid to ask someone for help! My mom is my typist when I need time to sit and reflect. She helps me put my thoughts into words so that you can share in the exciting, flittering (I LOVE it when they flitter) moments of my life.

Fair(y) well my friends and goodnight.

So have I become an obsessive career bear?

Work... make a living... be productive... it's the American way, I guess. My job is pretty demanding of my time and sometimes I think perhaps we should spend a little less time in the office and a little more time in the arena (with my horse, Fancy.)

Today, I met the resident wild pig and her small triplets while we were riding my horse. Their manners were nothing to brag about, but then I must remind you that they were wild pigs so we can't hold them to the same standards we would a city pig. It made me grateful, though, that my mommy gives me baths and brushes my teefies. The perks of being a city bear.

M(a)dication helps you feel better

This morning when my dad was having trouble waking up, I suggested that he take his M(a)dicine. I knew it would help him start his day on the right paw. I'm always willing to be of assistance, especially when there's cuddling to be had!

Call the babysi(s)tter, we're going out tonight!

Well, I haven't met her yet, but judging from her baby portrait, my new sister, Mandi, has potential. I wonder if she likes fairies, too? Hey, she has black hair and that's always a plus!
Mom says I can't meet her until November 18th when we bring her home. I haven't decided whether to play the second-born-welcome-to-the-family-sister role or the first-born-this-is-my-family-and-I'm-letting-you-in role. So much to paw-nder.

Riding in Cars with Fairies

It's actually a hazardous thing to do. Everyone knows that you shouldn't agree to ride in the car with a fairy, but sometimes the fairies hitch a ride uninvited. My mom's watch has a fairy inside it (of course, Mom didn't know this when she bought the watch, but now she knows why Brighton jewelry is so expensive) and when we're driving along I-35 concentrating on the brake lights ahead of us, out pops a fairy, flittering and fluttering on the roof of the car. I always shout (Mom calls it barking) at mom who nearly plows into the automobile in front of us. Like I said, it's a dangerous habit to ride in cars with fairies. (Just between you and me, though, I get pretty excited when one of them pops onto the roof! Gets my adrenaline going and turns a previously dull and mundane day into a sparkling one!)

Fairy House

Just in case you weren't sure, this is what a real live fairy house looks like. Fairies keep the outside painted black, because it helps to deflect their natural brightness which would cause others to stumble. Some more vain fairies have gold and silver houses, but you should stay away from those kind.

Ode to Dolly

This is my sister, B-Bop and me in one of our last photos together. See, my sister went to live with the angels about 3 weeks ago. I miss her everyday, and sometimes forget that she's not here. She always watched over me and I knew what was right and wrong by watching her. She took care of me and kept me in line. I keep looking for her around the corners of our apartment, in case she decides to come back, but she hasn't yet.
One of my favorite things to do with my mentor was to run around the apartment as fast I could while she stood in the center of the living room barking at me and telling me to go faster. We had so much fun together! She was the brave one in our family and I always knew that if I got scared of something (happens every now and then but not TOO often) she would protect me. Missing my dolly "always and forever."

Cuddle Time

I come from a very cuddly family. My mom and dad REALLY like to cuddle on the couch together and talk. I have to say that it makes me pretty jealous! This afternoon I just sat in front of them and watched them for about 30 minutes, and they never stopped talking and looking into each other's eyes! I kept having to interrupt them just to help them remember that I needed some love and attention too.

In the morning before my dad puts his shoes on to go to work, he sits in his comfy chair, sets his shoes down, and invites me in his lap. I lie on my back in his arms while he tells me how much he loves his bear (that's me) and rubs my tummy. My mom doesn't have any designated cuddle time so we just cuddle all day long. Since we go to work together every day, I help make her day less stressful by hopping in her lap and curling up in her arms. Sometimes when I'm lying in her lap I also oversee her typing, making sure she doesn't make any grammatical errers while on the job.

Baby Pictures

Let me tell you about my mommy. When I was a baby, she would call me, wait on the floor (at my eye level) for me to come around the corner, and then flash a photo of me! Yeah, that's my mom... always waiting for a moment to catch you off guard. I'm pretty used to it now, though... I just lie on the floor waiting for her to sneak up on me, and just when she's ready to pounce, or throw a blanket over my head, I jump up, grab the blanket and run around the house as fast as I can go! (Sometimes my tail distracts me when I'm making one of my mad getaways and I have to grab it and hold on until it surrenders.) See, my mom and I have a lot of fun together.

My fairy

I am really happy you came to visit me and my blog. Have you met my fairy, Puck? He is red and lives in a fairy house next to the phone on our counter. Sometimes he comes out and flies all over the house and though I try to catch him, I haven't yet done so. He's so much fun to chase and when I run my fastest, he just flies faster!

I decided to name my fairy after a character in my favorite movie: Midsummer Night's Dream. It's my favorite movie because it has fairies in it. What's your favorite fairy, I mean movie?
